Linney is a 4th year student majoring in Health Science. She will be walking in the spring graduation ceremony and completing all her requirements by next fall semester. Her hobbies include reading and trying out different foods. She loves all kinds of curry. Currently, science fiction is catching her attention but she likes to read any types of books depending on her interests. One of this week’s question of the week was “Would you be supportive of your child wanting to pursue an art career? Why or why not?” Linney said that she will be supportive, however, she’s worried that finding jobs might be hard. She also told me about her friend’s situation. Her friend’s parents forced her to be a Biology major but she didn’t do well in her classes so she tried to switch her major. Her parents were against this decision and told her that her major has to be something in the medical field. This friend ended up switching to psychology. She’s eventually getting her degree in psychology but she’s not happy with it, so she decided to go back to school for another four years to pursue computer science. In the end, her time and money were wasted and she was not contented with anything because her parents didn’t support her decision. Linney does not want this to happen to her child in the future.
